The National Police Service Commission remains committed to implementing the Chief Justice Emeritus David Maraga’s taskforce reforms to promote efficiency in the National Police Service. Speaking during a Media Training on Police Accountability, Safety and Security for Journalists in Nanyuki, the Commission CEO Peter Leley said the recommendations are in line with police reforms agenda and are being implemented progressively.
He also called on the journalists to embrace responsible reporting by always ensuring that they verify facts to avoid biased and sensational stories.
The training brought together key players in the Criminal Justice System among them the National Police Service represented by Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Internal Affairs Unit, the Office of Director of Public Prosecution, Independent Policing Oversight Authority, Witness Protection Agency and various Civil Society Groups.
